I got asked that question the other day. Now, that is a very deep question and can mean a lot of different thing to a lot of different people.
For me it means when your dreams, aspirations and your positive action towards your goals, meet at the center. It is then you are living your truth. Right then and there you know it, it's a feeling inside you can’t describe that resides deep down within the core of your being. You are in the right place, at the right time and it just feels so good.
Often times we get pushed in a direction opposite of our hearts desire by family, teachers, loved ones, and our society. We end up in a place we don’t want to be and that’s an uncomfortable place for a heart with desire. We feel disconnected and drained from life. But, when you start to focus in on what it is you truly want to do. When you dial in your mission and life’s purpose, you step into your destiny and don’t allow anything to get in your way.
I believe my truth was set for me a long time ago. As you know, when I was only 10 years old I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. A cancer diagnosis at any age can be a scary thing but I have to be honest, I didn’t know what the word “cancer” meant. I just knew I didn’t feel well and I had to leave my friends at school and go to a big hospital in NYC. And that was scary thing for me.
You often hear the clique, “that every cloud has a silver lining”. Even the worst events or situations have some positive aspect. Do you believe in that? I certainly do, I lived through the experience in my own life. An interesting thing happened when adversity struck, a seed of positivity was planted and came in the form of music and a letter that was penned from a family friend that had wisdom that would one day ring true.
I've been so blessed to be able to travel the world to share my music and message to inspire, spread hope and make positive change in people lives. And when that clarity happens.
You know in that moment that you are living your truth.
